Vu Mai is a Vietnamese American producer, director and writer from San Diego, CA. Her goal is to amplify the voice of the unheard BIPOC community through stories of raw humanity.
About
Vu has been in the film industry since 1993 where she began as a child actress under management by Hervey/Grimes. She has been in various national and international commercials and landed a role in the major motion picture, The Joy Luck Club when she was only 8 years old.
She moved onto studying screenplay writing as an undergraduate student at UCSD in 2002 and has worked as a script writer and producer for local commercials in San Diego.
Vu made her directorial debut last year when she wrote and directed her short film, Fight Like A Girl to enter the HBO Visionary APA film competition.
Recently, she started her own independent film production company, Soleil Brings The Light Production, through which she has produced numerous local commercials, short films and music videos. Vu is excited to continue her creative career in screenplay writing, directing and producing. She vows to make a mark as a BIPOC female in a competitive industry and to give the under-represented minority a chance to amplify their voice through her stories.
